A subwoofer is the best way to get some serious bass out of your system. They come in 8",10",12",15". Unless they are a free air subwoofer, then you'll need to build or buy a box to put it into. The more you pay for one the better it will sound and the smaller the space in the box you'll need. We'll be showing you My custom 12" box that I made for my '79Trans Am... It is very unique, and will fit any '77 to '81 Camaro or Trans Am.

Here are some basic box building tips:

Always make sure that the outside dimensions of the box have to fit the space in the vehicle where you want to put it. Once you have chosen the maximum outer dimensions of the box, you can go about choosing the internal volume that best serves the subwoofer you intend to install. Air space recommendations come from the manufacturer. When it comes to materials there is one choice. You should use medium density fiberboard (MDF).Use 1/2 inch for 8" and smaller speakers and 3/4 for larger. When using wood screws counter sink them for a smooth look. If you are using two or more woofers you'll have to build a baffle with a dividing wall to help brace the walls. Each driver should have it's own space.

Here are some different types of sub box designs:
